EU regulation No 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers came into force on December 13th 2014. The new legislation requires caterers and manufacturers to provide mandatory information on foodstuffs to consumers.
KOST set up a comprehensive product database in 2013, which is continually updated. The aim of the database is to enable product information to be exchanged between food producers and caterers in a simple and non-bureaucratic manner.
Information on producers items is maintained in the database according to:
- Food allergen labelling and information requirements – EU regulation No 1169/2011,
- Meat Labelling Regulation (EU) No. 1337/2013,
- Fish Labelling Regulation (EU) No. 404/2011 and
- recognized national regulations.
KOST customers can import product information via a download portal into their own KOST system. The information is then used for all processes in KOST Business Software – from purchasing, to recipe management, menu planning and food labels.
